Courageous 6-year-old abuse survivor raises awareness and funds to fight abuse

A standing ovation to Hunter Cole Avila, a 6-year-old who last weekend participated "in the National Race to Stop the Silence. The 5K fun run/walk to raise awareness and money to stop child sexual abuse will be held Saturday at Freedom Plaza in Washington, D.C. "I want to help other children," noted Hunter, a 6-year-old honor student at Kitty Stone Elementary, who is a survivor of sexual abuse. "I want to help my friends at Kitty Stone and help children all over the world.
"I was abused once, and I don't want others to have to hurt like I did."" See the full article in the Jacksonville News. My thanks to Mike for the original post where I learned of this.

The article also mentions the local abuse prevention/support organization Darkness to Light. From a quick look at their website, they are a great organization. I especially like their 7 Steps to Protect Children from Sexual Assualt. Go and check it out.

GO HUNTER!
